For the fifth consecutive year, The Insurance Alliance has been named among the Top 100 Property Casualty Independent Agencies, according to Insurance Journal magazine.
This year’s ranking is #45, up from #47 last year, and maintaining the position of #2 for Pennsylvania-centric P&C agencies.
Suzanne Emmett of Eastern Alliance presented Don Wert of AIA with the plaque that recognizes the agency’s commitment to returning injured workers to full or part-time employment, both as a cost-control method for clients as well as a benefit to the workers, who are not abandoned to the workers’ compensation bureaucracy.
Jeffrey B. Barr, ARM, CPIA of Bethlehem has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. A graduate of Bloomsburg University, Jeff has over 18 years of experience insuring commercial property and casualty risks and has been associated with Miers Insurance for the past 15 years. He was named a principal of the firm in 2007.
At The Alliance’s Connections event in early November, the winners of the 2009 Accellerations sales contest were announced and prizes awarded. Daryl Frantz, Pennsylvania Territory Manager for Selective Insurance (right) and Greg Harrington, Branch Manager for Ohio Casualty, the two Platinum sponsors of Accellerations, helped present the awards.
Brian Buskirk of Zinn Insurance took home the Next Generation Producer of the Year award.
Commercial Lines Producer of the Year honors were awarded to Ryan Amey of Sterner Insurance.
New to Accellerations this year was a drawing for the $4,000 grand prize. Each of the producers who earned the monthly top producer award were entered in the contest, and Ryan, as the top overall producer, earned three chances. When the drawing was complete and the smoke cleared, John Eltringham of Hampson Mowrer Kreitz was left holding the check.
Alliance member Hampson Mowrer Kreitz recently received the Fabric of the Community award from the Northampton Community College. Part of the honor was a video highlighting some of HMK’s community activities. Find out more about how the HMK staff involve themselves in a wide variety of greater Lehigh Valley area associations.

Because of their strong partnership and performance with Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group, The Insurance Alliance was invited to participate in their recent “Celebrate Santa Barbara” trip. In attendance were John and Kalyn Knoll (Knoll Insurance Associates), Jane and Fred Koppenheffer (The Insurance Alliance) and Bill and Carol Kreitz (Hampson Mowrer Kreitz).
For the second year in a row, The Insurance Alliance has been named among the Top 100 Property Casualty Independent Agencies – 2007, according to Insurance Journal magazine.
The Alliance ranked #37 among privately-held agencies and maintained the position of third largest Pennsylvania-based agency. The overall rank moved nine places from last year due to five first-time agencies entering higher on the list.
On January 25, 2007, The PMA Insurance Group presented Hampson Mowrer Kreitz Insurance (HMK) with its Agency of the Year Award for the Harrisburg Branch. Rick Ramell, Vice President of the Harrisburg Branch of The PMA Insurance Group, presented the award to Tom Hartzell.
